CITY MOUNTAINBIKE ELIMINATOR WORLD CUP CALLS ON BOPLAN®

Mountain biking is often associated with forests and muddy paths, but that is not the full picture. The UCI MTB Eliminator World Cup always takes place in a city. Barcelona (ES), Valkenswaard (NL) and Winterberg (DE) were already transformed into challenging mountain bike courses for this event. Extreme sports require extreme safety measures. That is how the organisers found their way to BOPLAN®.

Just like the E3 BinckBank Classic in Harelbeke (BEL) and the UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships in Ostend (BEL), the City Mountainbike Eliminator World Cup featured BOPLAN® RACE BUMPERS everywhere along the course.

The route contained various obstacles and some impressive configurations. The riders took sloped hairpin bends, raced up and down stairs and rattled across wooden bridges. Even the underground car park of “Het Pand” shopping centre was part of the circuit!

In the end, Titouan Perrin-Ganier from France took home the men’s world champion title and Gaia Tormena from Italy won the women's world cup.

“We had heard about the RACE BUMPERS used at the latest edition of the E3 BinckBank Classic. That's how we found our way to BOPLAN®,” organiser Kristof Bruyneel says. About 26 high visibility Race Bumpers were carefully positioned at critical points of the 460 m course. “We received many positive reactions about our safety measures for the riders from various organisations, including the UCI Federation.” The event’s organizers are very enthusiastic about their cooperation with BOPLAN® and are looking forward to working with BOPLAN® again for the next edition.
